STAFF PROFILE

The RADAR Center is directed by Richard Isralowitz, Ph.D. Research, education and training personnel include (listed in alphabetical order): Miriam Izzard, Alex Reznik, Svetlana Shpigel, and Darwin Telias.

Richard Isralowitz is professor and director of the RADAR Center. His has published over 100 articles and 9 books on substance abuse and related issues. Among the honors he has received are: Distinguished International Scientist - US National Institute on Drug Abuse; International Visiting Professor - New York University; Hallsworth Scholar of Social Policy - University of Manchester, England; and, Fulbright Fellow - University of Singapore. He received his doctorate from the Florence Heller Graduate School for Advanced Studies in Social Policy and Management, Brandeis University.

Miriam Izzard is a research associate responsible for education and training activities. Her graduate education is in the field of clinical psychology and she been involved with research of drug use patterns and problems among special populations in Israel.

Alexander Reznik is a senior research associate responsible for studies of Former Soviet Union immigrants including the adaptation of the Addiction Severity Index in Israel. Also, Dr. Reznik is responsible for the RADAR Center's scientific data analysis.

Svetlana Shpigel is the RADAR Center coordinator for administration and project development. Her graduate education is in the field of social work and she has been involved with research of drug use patterns and problems among special populations in Israel.

Darwin Telias is a psychiatrist specialized in addictions. He is Director of MATARA, a multi-purpose treatment center for dependences in the Negev and he is former director of the Israel Prison Service Addictions Treatment Program. Dr. Telias is responsible for drug education and training.
